Vibrio cholerae is an important human pathogen. In this project, we will systematically investigate the O-antigen diversity of V. cholerae, which is essential for the survival and pathogenicity of bacteria.More than 200 O-serogroups have been identified in V. cholerae. In this project, we will sequenced and analyzed the O-antigen gene clusters of 30 V. cholerae O-antigens, and determined the chemical structures of 15 V. cholerae O-antigens. The finding will be useful for understanding the synthesis process of V. cholerae O-antigens, and provide novel insight for the genetic and evolution mechanisms for the generation of O-antigen diversity in V. cholerae.
