1. Future exploration: Establish the role and function of non-channel proteins and molecules of intracellular logistic system in the homeostasis of heart bioelectricity and the development of arrhythmias, and uncover their unique mechanisms especially cell-biological mechanisms, with focuses on RNA-binding proteins, nucleoporins, low-density lipoprotein receptor-associated proteins, sorting nexins and toll-like receptors. 2. Strategic aim: Give birth to novel theories and/or novel hypotheses. For instance, the regulation theory (hypothesis) of heart bioelectricity and arrhythmias by non-channel proteins, the regulation theory (hypothesis) of heart rhythm by intracellular logistic system, and the theory (hypothesis) on the origin and regulation of cardiac pacemaker cells. 3. Complete technical system construction: Inherit and improve technical systems on studying the relation between intracellular trafficking system and cardiac ion channels, on studying the developmental biology of cardiac pacemaker cells, and on studying heart bioelectricalactivity. 4. Making an innovative research group of international standing: Form an innovative research community in heart rhythm and arrhythmia with important position in the world, guided by strategic scientists, enlivened by a number of principal investigators active in international academic frontier, and devoted by a large number of young and middle-aged scholars with common interests.
