紫珠属作为唇形科的基部类群之一，主要分布于亚洲的热带和亚热带地区。由于缺乏足够的野外调查和完善的属下分类系统，紫珠属的分类依然存在诸多问题，比如：一些性状的变异幅度把握不准，预见性也不高，众多疑难类群有待澄清等。鉴于东南亚地区是紫珠属的起源和多样性中心，同时也是紫珠属分类最复杂的地区，本项目将在前期国产种类的研究基础上，采用经典分类学常用的“形态-地理学”研究方法，开展全面的文献查阅和跨区域的标本采集及研究，结合形态学、孢粉学以及解剖学等学科手段，拟对东南亚紫珠属进行全面收集、整理和修订，综合分析宏观和微观形态性状，确定各性状的变异式样和幅度，解决属下各类群的正确划分、名称，最终实现重建紫珠属属下分类系统的目标。

As one of the basal groups of family Lamiaceae, Callicarpa L. occurs mostly in subtropical and tropical regions of Asia. Due to lack of sufficient field investigations and scientific classification system, the taxonomy of Callicarpa is still problematic. For example, many character variations are insufficiently analysed and the current classification system is unpredictable. Besides, many endemic or taxonomically difficult species need to be clarified due to lack of trans-regional studies. Considering that the genus is more species rich in the Old World, especially in Southeast Asia, and the taxonomy of species distributed in this area is more complex. Based on the previous revision of Callicarpa in China, this project aims at revising the genus in SE-Asia by means of the classical ‘morphology-geography’ methods. Specifically, we will collect and study thoroughly the taxonomic literatures and herbarium specimens, investigate and analyse the morphological, palynological and anatomical characters of each species. And then we will clarify the variation pattern and range of these morphological characters and evaluate their significance in taxonomy and systematics. Our final objective is to confirm the species delimitation and nomenclature and reconstruct a scientific infrageneric system of Callicarpa in Asia.
