金花茶组复合群包含重要的经济植物，是山茶属中存在分类学问题最多的类群之一。在原有的组间关系、种间关系争议不断的情况下，近二十年来，该类群的成员在原来20余种的基础上增加了五十余个，新分类群增加速度之快、数量之多，达到惊人的地步，开展该类群的分类修订研究已属紧迫之举。本项目拟在良好的前期研究基础上，采用传统的形态-地理学研究方法，通过广泛而全面的标本查阅和更加广泛深入的野外调查，结合分子系统学研究手段，全面系统地开展该类植物的分类学修订工作，确定金花茶组复合群内各组的分类学范围及组间系统关系，澄清种类划分上的混乱，建立一个合理的分类系统，为山茶属乃至山茶科的系统演化提供素材和内容，为资源的合理保护和利用提供依据。

Camellia sect. Chrysantha Complex, a group of high economic value, is extremely complicated in taxonomy because of the diversity and the continuity of interspecies morphological characters. There exist lots of controversies of current classification systems about sectional taxonomic circumscription, species definition, phylogenetic relationship, etc. In recent twenty years, about 50 new taxa have been described, which suggests that the taxonomic revision of Sect. Chrysantha Complex is getting necessary and urgent. In this project, the taxonomic revision on Sect. Chrysantha Complex will be carried out by means of traditional taxonomy and DNA Ultra-barcode. Combined with extensive field survey, thorough herbarium work and DNA data, the comprehensive study will be hopeful to clarify the sectional taxonomic circumscription and intersection phylogenetic relationship. On that basis, the species will be clearly and effectively distinguished. The implementation of the project will contribute to a comprehensive and in-depth understanding for species of Sect. Chrysantha Complex, and be helpful for the study on the systematic evolution of Camellia as well as Theaceae and for the effective protection and utilization of Sect. Chrysantha Complex.
