The applicant has committed herself to clinical scientific research for a long time in the field of acute treatment of ischemic stroke, focusing on exploring imaging markers for predicting recanalization and hemorrhagic transformation after reperfusion therapy. She has published 41 papers in the international leading journals, including Neurology, Stroke, and Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery & Psychiatry, as first or corresponding author. Total impact factor is approximately 171. These papers have drawn exceptional attention from international peers and have been widely cited by different journals for more than 700 times. Her major achievements are: 1. To improve treatment decisions of endovascular treatment based on the novel knowledge of neuroimaging as a biomarker of responsiveness to Alteplase. 2. To identify the risk–benefit ratio of reperfusion therapies using imaging parameters to determine the optimal thresholds of ischemic penumbra and infarct core based on Chinese population, and develop prognostic markers of hemorrhagic transformation after thrombolysis. 3. To explore the venous mechanism of cerebral white matter hyperintensities by utilizing the advanced imaging modalities. Based on these earlier work, this project will further explore the role of morphology and function of intracranial veins in cerebral postischemic reperfusion injury after recanalization therapy for acute ischemic stroke patients, which will help to establish robust clinical imaging measurements of reperfusion injury, identify prognostic image markers and assist treatment and prevention of reperfusion injury, finally leading to proposals for identifying an enriched population of patients with the potential for a major clinical response to early recanalization.
