Obesity has been one of the most important health problems for human. It may be related to several mechanisms, shift work has been a marked one. We found that there were significant correlations between shift work and obesity. Shift work can disturb the biological rhythm, resulting in body fat, but the mechanism is not clear. We intend to verify the correlation between shift work and obesity, to explore the way melatonin affects adipocyte proliferation by influencing the rhythms of clock genes and c-Myc in adipose tissue, using cosine software analysis and RNAi, from population, animals and cells. We clarify that obesity caused by shift work may be achieved through the melatonin-clock gene- fat synthesis related gene pathway. The project will find a new way to investigate the obesity in occupational groups and provide a theoretical basis of the health promotion for them.
