Exploring the distribution and expanding pattern of alien species is one of the key area of invasive ecology.Carrying out related research is essential to protect national ecological safety. In recent years, the climate change and human activities are reshaping the distribution of animals. some exotic bird firstly appeared in China, and began to spread quickly. The Asian Openbill mainly occured in lowland plain of South Asia and Southeast Asia. In 2006, this bird firstly appeared in China, up to now, it has spread to Yunnan, Guizhou and Guangxi Province. This bird increased the local biodiversity. On the other hand, the rapid expansion also threaten the local species, e.g. cranes, storks and egrets. There is an arguement if it is good or bad to local biodiversity . So it is urgent to carry out reseach on the Asian Openbill. This study intends to use classical field survey methods and satellite tracking technology to study the population dynamics, distribution pattern, ecological demand and migration habit of Asian Openbill. We also model the distribution pattern of Asian Openbill and predict its potential distribution areas using GIS, Rs, and GPS technology. Our aim is to provide scientific proof for the directorial department to make management measures.
