Towards the end of the Quaternary, climate has been a major driver of population change in the North Hemisphere. Coupling phylogeography and species distribution models to examine the response of endangered animals to the Quaternary climate, has become an important developing direction of conservation. However, the response of genetic signatures and geographical distribution areas of the Syrmaticus reevesii, which distributed across the regions in the Qinling, Dabashan (Shennongjia) and Dabie Mountains and the surrounding areas, to climate change is still unknown. By coupling species distributed models and multi-locus molecular data, we aim to investigate how climate changes affected species dynamics at distribution and genetic scales of Syrmaticus reevesii. It woud be helpful to protect the species more accurately and effectively. In addition, we will provide case of the evolutionaly pattern and related mechanism of species across these studied areas.
