耳鼻咽喉头颈科学是研究耳、鼻、咽、喉、气管与食管等器官以及颅底、颈部和上纵隔等部位的解剖、生理和疾病现象的一门科学。耳鼻咽喉头颈科学正面临着前所未有的严峻挑战，形势犹如逆水行舟。中国耳鼻咽喉头颈科学无论从研究规模还是从学术影响力，近10年国际地位呈现快速提升的态势。但是，与一些先进国家相比，仍有很大差距。今后，我们要树立做大做强学科的战略远见，针对发展中面临的热点、难点，集中优势，团结协作，协调攻关，不断提高学科建设的整体水平，为国家“十三五”规划战略研究做好充分准备。

Otolaryngology head and neck surgery is a science, which contains anatomy, physiology and disease phenomenon of organs of the ear, nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea and esophagus as well as the skull base, neck and upper mediastinum. Department of Otolaryngology Head and neck science is facing severe challenges hitherto unknown, like a sail against the current situation. In recent 10 years, otolaryngology head and neck science in china showed a rapid development both in the scale and the academic influence. However, compared with advanced countries, there is still a big gap. In the future, we should establish the strategic vision to become stronger discipline. Aiming at the difficulties faced in the development, moreover, we should cooperate with each other to prepare for the nation's thirteenth five year development plan.
