The applicant has being engaged in studying COXs and their down-stream pathways involved in inflammatory response and cardiovascular diseases over 13 years. In recent five years, as corresponding author, he has published 9 research articles in the prestigious journals, such as J Clin Invest, J Allergy Clin Immunol, Sci Transl Med, Circ Res, Blood, Diabetes, Br J Pharmacol, J Biol Chem, and Cardiovasc Toxicol, and 1 review in Front Pharmacol. During the past several years, his work came to a conclusion that COX-2 derived PGI2 in vessel wall and kidney participates in blood pressure regulation; revealed the molecular mechanisms for COX-2-derived PGE2 involvement in injury-induced arterial remodeling; discovered the novel mechanisms for PGE2 receptor subtype 3 (EP3) in hypoxia-induced pulmonary vascular remodeling in pulmonary hypertension; unveiled the novel function of aspirin and fish oil combination on inhibiting vascular remodeling; revealed the novel approach of vitamin D to suppression of COX-2-mediated inflammation; discovered the new roles of COX-1 on lymphocyte immune. All these work increased our knowledge on inflammation response and vascular homeostasis with COX involvement and provided evidences for proper usage of NSAIDs. Because of these achievements, some of his work have gained special comments from the high-profile journals, such as Science and Circ Res. Further work in his laboratory will continue to investigate COXs and downstream pathways implicated in inflammatory reaction and vascular homeostasis.
