鼻白蚁科白蚁是一类重要的城市与林业害虫。深入了解鼻白蚁与木质素降解微生物的相互关系具有重要的生态学意义和应用价值。木霉属真菌是自然环境中木质素的主要分解者类群之一,且与鼻白蚁具有相同的栖息环境和食物来源。然而,木霉与鼻白蚁的相互作用还未被系统研究。本研究旨在综合不同的研究方法和视角,全面解析我国主要的几种鼻白蚁害虫(台湾乳白蚁、黑胸散白蚁和黄肢散白蚁)与土壤、木材中常见木霉属真菌的相互作用。研究内容主要包括两个方面:(1)木霉属真菌对鼻白蚁的毒害/吸引/驱避作用及其作用机制;(2)鼻白蚁对木霉属真菌的抑制作用及生态意义。研究结果不仅将首次全面揭示鼻白蚁与木霉属真菌在长期进化,长期共存中形成的复杂相互关系,也将为鼻白蚁的防治提供新的方法和思路。
英文摘要
The subterranean termites (Isoptera: Rhinotermitidae) are main structural and forestry pests that cause huge economic loses. Studying the interaction between termites and lignin degrading fungi is of great value to bring new insights into termite biology and control. The Trichoderma fungi, which usually cohabit with subterranean termites in moist soil and rotting wood, are significant degraders of lignin in natural environments, however, their relationship has not been systematic studied. In the present research, we will focus on the interaction between main subterranean termite pests in China (Coptotermes formosanus, Reticulitermes chinensis and Reticulitermes flaviceps) and common Trichoderma fungi (33 species). The specific aims are: (1) studying either toxicity or attraction or repellency of each Trichoderma species to subterranean termites; and (2) studying the potential suppression effect of subterranean termites on each Trichoderma species. Our findings will contribute to fully understand the termite-Trichoderma interaction and would be helpful to develop environmental friendly methods for the termite control.
