甘薯作为世界上第七大重要作物，遗传背景复杂、遗传信息缺乏，复份保存问题严重。因此，本研究通过分析国际甘薯种质库（CIP）和中国国家甘薯种质库中的甘薯种质资源的遗传多样性，旨在构建国际/中国甘薯育种核心种质，发掘核心种质中品质和抗性优异的基因资源，为甘薯资源的育种利用奠定基础。

Sweetpotato (Ipomoea batatas (L.)Lam.) is the seventh most important food crop in the world. The crop has a complex genetic background but genetic diversity analyses were so far restricted to small numbers of investigated accessions. Futhermore information on agronomically important traits of sweet potato genetic resources held in trust in global collections are still limited. Hence, this research project aims at analyzing sweetpotato genetic diversity, screening of a diverse breeding panel and exploitation of the superior quality traits and diseases/pests resistance. The project will be carried out using germplasm from the CIP genebank and the Chinese national genebank (Xuzhou, China).
