Ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP) is a new objective examination which has been used as a kind of clinical test less than 10 years in the field of vestibular research. Although oVEMP has been considered as the detector of utricle and the superior vestibular nerve input pathway with some clinical evidence, its exact origin and the reflex pathway remain controversial. The aim of the present study is to find the reasonable animal model of oVEMP and to investigate the origin and the reflex pathway of oVEMP. We intend to elicit oVEMP responses in guinea pig, then build the pathologic animal models by destroying the utricle, superior vestibular nerve and vestibular nuclei. The results of oVEMP in these animal models will be analysed together with the pathomorphology outcomes. Meanwhile, a horse radish peroxidase retrograde tracing study will be used to tract the output pathway from the brainstem nuclei to the effector (inferior oblique). We believe the results of this study will improve our understanding of this promising new examination.

眼肌前庭诱发肌源性电位(ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potential, oVEMP)是目前国际上前庭研究领域新兴的客观检查项目。从应用于临床至今仅约10年时间。虽然临床研究支持oVEMP起源于椭圆囊,反映椭圆囊及前庭上神经传入神经功能状态,但其确切来源和反射通路仍存在争议。本研究首先在正常动物引出了oVEMP图形,获得了动物oVEMP正常值参数;建立了全身和局部使用庆大霉素损毁实验动物外周前庭结构的动物模型,对比了oVEMP测试结果和相应病理形态学研究结果,为进一步探索oVEMP的确切起源和传入通路提供了动物模型,也为将来进一步进行神经切断、前庭神经核团损毁、以及通过辣根过氧化物酶逆向追踪动物实验研究打下基础。在本研究经费支持下,初步的动物实验研究已经结束,相关资料和数据正在进一步整理过程中。共发表学术论文4篇(其中SCI收录2篇),培养硕士研究生1名。
