申请者长期从事周围神经损伤修复以及相关的脑功能重塑研究。对健侧颈七移位手术修复臂丛损伤的研究发现,这种外周“左右移位”手术可以诱发成人大脑功能重塑,但运动中枢和感觉中枢的重塑模式不同。运动中枢是一种跨两半球间的重塑,而感觉中枢是一侧半球内的重塑,表现出双侧上肢感觉汇合至一侧半球。进而证实了运动中枢也存在一侧半球同时控制双侧上肢的重塑机制。在此基础上,提出恢复中枢损伤后期瘫痪上肢功能的全新策略:将外周神经交叉移位,使瘫痪上肢的神经投射由对侧半球变为同侧半球,诱发功能重塑,实现健存半球同时支配健侧和瘫痪上肢。已临床应用50例,效果显著,得到国际同行高度评价。申请者还建立了治疗臂丛神经损伤的全新术式,被国际权威教科书收录并广泛推广。主持863计划1项、国自然基金4项、教育部及上海市人才项目5项。获国家科技进步奖及上海市青年科技杰出贡献奖等奖励。近五年以通讯作者发表SCI论文18篇,3项授权专利。

The applicant has long-term experience in the researches of peripheral nerve injury-repair and relevant brain functional plasticity. Previous studies in the treatment of brachial plexus nerve injury have figured out that the special “crossover” transfer pattern of contralateral C7 nerve transfer would induce functional plasticity of the brain. However, the brain plasticity pattern was found different between the motor and sensory centers. The motor center underwent a process of interhemispheric plasticity. On the contrary, the sensory center plasticity was constrained within unilateral hemisphere and the sensory input from bilateral upper extremities finally converged to one side of the brain. Later on, further studies have been taken out to prove that the motor center was also able to control bilateral upper extremities by unilateral hemisphere. On the basis of these discoveries, the applicant proposed a new strategy for treating the sequelae of central injury. That is, altering the projection of paretic upper extremity from the contralateral hemisphere to the ipsilateral side by nerve transfer to establish a new control of the intact hemisphere over the paretic upper extremity by brain functional plasticity. This surgery has been applied in 50 hemiplegia patients so far and the outcomes were quite satisfactory. This procedure has also been highly appraised by international peers. In addition, the applicant initiated a new surgical method in treating brachial plexus injury which has been included in an international authoritative textbook and widely popularized. The applicant is currently the director of an ongoing “863” project. He has got 4 grants of The National Natural Science Foundation for recent years and 5 projects from the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Talent Programs. He was awarded the National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology and Outstanding Contribution Award of Science and Technology for Youth in Shanghai. In the recent 5 years, the applicant, as the corresponding author, has published 18 SCI papers. His 3 invention patents have been authorized.
