豆腐柴属是唇形科豆腐柴亚科的核心成员，由于缺乏完善的属下系统、性状挖掘不够、分类修订不全面，其属下种类很不明确，估测为50种到200种不等。亚洲是该属的分布中心和多样化中心，同时也是分类最为复杂的地区。由于缺乏跨地域的分类学研究、标本少、野外调查不充分，大量的地区特有种和分类疑难类群有待澄清。本项目拟采用经典分类"形态-地理学"的研究方法，在前期国产种类的研究基础上，通过更全面的文献和标本研究，结合必要的形态学、解剖学、孢粉学研究及大量的野外调查，深入挖掘有价值的分类学性状，对亚洲豆腐柴属进行全面的分类学修订。同时，结合前人对非洲和澳洲豆腐柴属的专著性研究及申请人前期的分子系统学研究，确定具有系统演化意义的关键性状，重建其属下分类系统。本项目的实施可以显著提高豆腐柴属的分类学研究水平，对于培养江西省植物分类学青年人才也将起到积极作用。

Premna L. is the core member of the subfamily Premnoideae of Lamiaceae. Due to lack of scientific classification system, insufficient investigations of characters, and absence of comprehensive revisions, the genus is poorly known in taxonomy. The number of species in the world was estimated from 50 to 200. Asia is the distribution and the diversification center of the genus, however, the taxonomy of Premna in this region is very complicated due to lack of trans-regional studies and scarcity of specimens and field investigations. A number of endemics and taxonomically difficult groups need to be clarified. Based on the preliminary revision of Premna in China, the present project intends to revise the genus in Asia by means of the classical'morphology-geography'methods, i.e. examination of taxonomic literatures and herbarium specimens, investigation of morphological, anatomical and palynological characters, and wild populations. Through the implementation of this project, coupled with previous studies on the molecular phylogeny of Premna and taxonomic revisions in Africa and Australia, we'd like to complete the species delimitation in Asia, determine additional characters with systematic significance, and reconstruct an infrageneric system of the genus. This project would be of important value for the advancement of the taxonomy of Premna, and for the cultivation of young botanic taxonomists of Jiangxi Province.
