The theory of Five Elements which is a constructed metaphor is to be studied under the background of Embodied cognition in Cognitive Science. We want to explore the role that Five Elements Theory has provided the cognitive frame and foundational construction for Chinese Medicine; reveal its inductive open character and expansibility,and use its research strategies and creative deduce to produce unprecedented possible which contains valuable information. From the perspective of Cognitive Psychology, Cognitive Linguistics and Cognitive Logic, we would know more about Five Elements Theory, such as how to form the conceptual metaphor and establish their relationships. We would expand multi-faceted discussion by the axis of roles that in constructing Chinese Medicine Theory played by Five Elements; study the character of conceptual metaphor in Five Elements Theory including visceral manifestation, pathogenesis, therapeutic method, five colors, five flavours, five seasons and five directions,and so on. In this research, we would take classical works of Chinese Medicine as corpus, using Conceptual Metaphor Theory, Prototype Theory , Integration Theory and Metaphor Logic Theory to study the formation of Chinese concept, to analyse its working mechanism, to know the characteristics of metaphor logic of Chinese Medicine, to explain the psychological, linguistic, logical foundation of Chinese conceptual metaphor under the influence of Five Elements Theory,and to know difficulties and future prospects of the rasearch .
