Ancestors of domesticated animals have evolved to variety of lines for adapting to the human environment through domestication. The genetic basis and evolutionary force of the phenotypic diversity among domesticated animals has always been studied. Gene functions by interacting with other genes. Does artificial selection tend to operate multi-genes for the evolution of a certain trait? Or single gene? Or few genes? How does artificial selection shape the formation of specific traits by influencing the interacting genes? Genome wide detection of epistatic SNPs which influence the quantitative traits (body weight, egg production, gene expression levels) will be performed in the project, which helps to explore how artificial selection acts on the interacting SNPs, thereby affects the quantitative traits. Gene expression module will be constructed, and detected for the signature of artificial selection, to explore how artificial selection acts on the interaction of genes at the transcriptome level. We will elaborate how artificial selection influences the epistatic SNPs and gene interactions to influence the evolution of phenotypic, and strive to point out an influential theory in the field of artificial selection.
