岭南药物包括了由岭南出产的药物与由海上传入中国的药物。岭南凉茶和汤饮文化是岭南药物使用的特色。由于历史、地理的原因，岭南药物的资源研究长期被忽略，研究开发的步伐也大大迟于常用中药，是一个有巨大潜力的天然药库。资源的开发离不开本草考证的工作。《本草纲目》是古代本草的巅峰之作，全面记载了中国古代药物学的宝贵经验。我们前期的文献筛查发现，尽管很多学者对《本草纲目》中收载的药物进行了不同程度的考证，但仍然有23种岭南药物需要深入考证。本研究将结合传统文献学、现代植物学、药材鉴定学、民族植物学与现代研究，重点对该书23种基原不明确的岭南药物进行深入考证，以便继承宝贵的中药文化资源和科学利用岭南药物的资源，迎接伟大的医药学家李时珍诞辰500周年。

Lingnan medicinal materials (LMM) not only comprise medicines of the Southeastern Provinces of China, but also include many oversea medicines. The distinct Lingnan characteristics of medicinal use are herbal tea drinking and herbal soup. Lingnan is rich in diversified medicinal plants. However, due to historical and geographical reasons, research and development of LMM is far behind the commonly used traditional Chinese Medicine. Therefore, there is a huge potential for LMM to become a great resource for development of new drugs Bencaological study is the basis for the use of LMM. Compendium of Materia Medica comprehensively records valuable experiences of ancient Chinese Materia Medica and represents the high academic achievements of that time. Scholars from China, Japan, America and Europe have conducted research on medicinal substances recorded in Compendium of Materia Medica from the point of view of plant taxonomy and pharmaceutical sciences. However, our previous literature review has indicated that the source species of twenty-three LMM involving some commonly used herbal medicines recorded in Compendium of Materia Medica are uncertain yet. In this research, traditional literature investigation, plant taxonomy, field survey, medicinal authentication and modern studies are integrated to focus on the bencaological aspects of entries of unclear origins in Compendium of Materia Medica. This research will facilitate the inheritance of cultural heritage and the utilization of natural resources of LMM, in order to celebrate the 500th birthday of Li Shizhen, a highly influential Chinese medicine scholar of the Ming Dynasty.
